Terms of Service

1. What DoomToll Is

DoomToll is a metered-billing service that charges you a small fee ($0.10 by default) each time you choose to open a social media app through our tollbooth. You install web clips on your iPhone home screen that look like your social media apps. When you tap one, DoomToll may present you with a choice: pay the toll or touch grass.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid payment method to use DoomToll. By signing up, you confirm you meet these requirements.

3. How Billing Works

• Each time you tap "Pay 10¢" on the interstitial, a metered event is recorded via Stripe.
• At the end of each billing period, Stripe generates a single invoice for all your tolls (e.g., 50 opens × $0.10 = $5.00).
• There is no subscription fee. You only pay for the tolls you choose to pay.
• "Touch Grass" is always free. We never charge for choosing not to scroll.
• All payments are processed by Stripe. DoomToll does not store your card details.

4. The Trigger Rate

Not every tap triggers the tollbooth. By default, approximately 25% of opens will show the interstitial. You can adjust this rate in your settings. The trigger is randomized — you cannot predict which opens will present the toll.

5. Cancellation

You can cancel your DoomToll subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal (accessible from your dashboard). Upon cancellation, your web clips will stop working and no further charges will be recorded. Any outstanding balance for the current billing period will still be invoiced.

6. No Guarantees

DoomToll is a behavioral tool, not a medical device. We don't guarantee reduced screen time, improved habits, or any specific outcome. Results depend entirely on how you use the service.

7. Service Availability

We aim to keep DoomToll running reliably, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of DoomToll.

8. Modifications

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of DoomToll after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Privacy Policy

The Short Version

DoomToll has no database. We store as little as possible. Your payment information lives with Stripe. We don't sell, share, or monetize your data.

What We Collect

• Email address — provided during signup. Stored as Stripe Customer metadata. Used for magic link login and billing communications.
• Metered usage events — each "Pay 10¢" and "Touch Grass" tap is recorded as a Stripe meter event for billing and dashboard stats.
• Settings — your trigger rate and Touch Grass destination are stored as Stripe Customer metadata.

What We Don't Collect

• We don't store passwords (we use magic link authentication).
• We don't track which specific social media apps you open.
• We don't use cookies for tracking.
• We don't build user profiles or behavioral models.
• We don't sell or share your information with third parties.

Third-Party Services

• Stripe — payment processing, customer records, and metered billing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare — hosting and edge network. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Authentication

DoomToll uses signed JWT tokens embedded in your web clip URLs. There are no sessions, no cookies, and no stored passwords. If you need to revoke access, you can regenerate your tokens from the dashboard — all old web clip URLs will immediately stop working.

Data Retention

Your data exists as Stripe Customer records and meter events. If you cancel and want your data deleted, email admin@doomtoll.com and we'll delete your Stripe Customer record, which removes all associated data.

Children's Privacy

DoomToll is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
